I still remember my first professionally published piece. It was an article on time management for the S.C. Johnson employee newsletter. It was not exactly hard-hitting journalism, but it proudly hung on our fridge for two months. Then we took it down. I mean, kudos to me, but it covered up the grocery list.
Many years after my first article made me Break Room Famous, I’ve honed my skills substantially.
Besides, hard-hitting journalism and floor wax aren’t really my thing. I’d rather write about freelancing, tech, and stuff that makes you think about this super weird world we live in and why we keep getting on Facebook when we’re drunk.
My style is whimsical, thoughtful, and informal – unless it’s about tech, in which case I put my adult pants on and mostly stick to the facts.
